
Carlos Sainz had never been particularly observant when it came to subtle social cues, and that was mostly fine. Until one Sunday afternoon, when he visited his parents for lunch, and casually, as though it were the most mundane topic in the world, his mother said:
“I think you should find a nice boyfriend, Carlos.”
His father, not to be outdone, nodded gravely. “Yes. A boyfriend. Someone… responsible.”
Carlos blinked. “Uh… sure, I guess. Someone nice.”
He didn’t know that somewhere across Europe, in garages, kitchens, and strategy rooms, four other sets of parents had received the memo ... and interpreted it as a full-scale personal challenge.
